- You need a Pro or Premium account to use this feature
TravelPerk allows you to see information about a trip and approve or decline it using Slack.
When a trip needs approval, our integration automatically sends a Slack message with the approval request to the approver.
They’ll be able to see a summary of the trip, including dates, travelers, services, policy details, messages, and total amount before deciding to approve and pay or decline the trip.
The approver can also go to the trip itinerary to check more details and approve the trip.
Important: Approvers will only receive trip approval requests if their email address is the same on TravelPerk and Slack.
Set up the Slack integration
If you have a free account, you can sign up for Premium from the Integrations page to unlock this feature.
To set up the Slack trip approval requests integration:
- On the Integrations page, go to the Slack integration and click Set up
- Enable the integration by clicking Add to Slack
- Allow permissions to access the Slack workspace - OAuth authorization
- Once this is done, two things can happen:
-
- If you're an Admin on TravelPerk and a Workspace Owner or App Manager in your Slack workspace, you'll be able to complete the integration process yourself. You can see below how app authorizations work on Slack.
- If you're not the Workspace Owner or App Manager in your Slack workspace, the integration will remain pending until someone with the right permissions in Slack approves it.
- If you're an Admin on TravelPerk and a Workspace Owner or App Manager in your Slack workspace, you'll be able to complete the integration process yourself. You can see below how app authorizations work on Slack.
Good to know: You can disable the integration at any time from the Integrations page by clicking Manage.
Authorize the app on Slack
When setting up the Slack integration from TravelPerk, the Workspace Owner or App Managers of your company Slack workspace will receive a Slackbot message to approve or restrict the app installation.
They can authorize the app from their Slack app directory.
Only Workspace Owners or App Managers in your Slack workspace have permission to authorize the installation of an app on Slack.
