There are 3 types of approval processes:
- Default: this applies on an account level for anyone not assigned to an approval process.
- Approval needed: depending on the settings you select, certain types of trips need to be approved before they are booked.
- No approval needed: trips can be booked without approval.
Here are a few things to be aware of before you get started:
- If there are no approval processes assigned to someone, no approval is required to book trips and make changes.
- If someone is assigned to multiple approval processes, the most restrictive process is applied. Manually created processes are considered the most restrictive, followed by automated processes and then default.
- If you are using a HR integration, see Set up approval processes with a HR integration.
- For more information about approval processes, see Understanding approval processes.
Tip: To set up automatic approvals that send approval requests directly to a traveler's manager, see Assign a Line Manager as an approver.
Default
Default approval processes apply to everyone in your company. For people assigned to another approval process, the other process is applied instead of the default.
To set up a default approval process, follow the instructions on Set up a default approval process.
Approval needed
Approval needed processes allow you to set approval rules for certain travelers and decide when approval is required.
To set up an approval needed process, follow the instructions on Set up an approval needed process.
No approval needed
No approval needed processes allow travelers to book trips or make changes to trips without approval. You can choose to have notifications sent to someone when new trips are booked.
To set up a no approval needed process, follow the instructions on Set up a no approval needed process.
