Set up approval processes with a HR integration

  • Only Admins can use this feature

You can set up your approval processes using a HR integration and approvers will automatically be assigned based on your company's hierarchy.

To set up a HR integration:

  1. Go to Account settings 
  2. Select Integrations
  3. Find your HR system and click Set up

You can find full instructions for all of the HR integrations supported by TravelPerk in the HR integrations section of the Help Center.

If you use a HR integration for approval processes, you can't edit them on TravelPerk. You'll need to update your HR system and the approval processes will automatically sync with TravelPerk. 

When you enable automatic approval processes, the existing ones will be deleted and replaced with new ones. You can save existing approval processes by downloading them as a CSV.

 

Disabling automatic approval processes

When you disable automatic approval processes, you have 2 options:

  • Delete all approval processes
  • Convert all existing automatic approval processes into manual ones 

Manual approval processes overrule automatic ones and automatic approval processes overrule the default.

If you need automatic approval processes for most users with a few exceptions, you can create manual approval processes for the exceptions.

 

Managing approval processes

Once approval processes are created or synced from your HR integration, you can:

  • Search for a specific approval process by travelers or approvers
  • Filter by Category - manual approvals or automated approvals 
  • Filter by Approval setting - in-policy, out-of-policy, no approval needed
  • Update any manual approval process

You can delete or update your approval process at any time. Editing or deleting an approval process won't affect existing trips and requests. Original approvers can still approve all pending trip requests.
